The existence of cassava plants in Africa can be traced back to the 16th century when Europeans brought it to Africa. Prior to this period, cassava plant has been in existence in American tropics and remains native to this region. Made from the cassava plant, Chikwangue a staple food in the Congo River Basin. We strive to offer handmade Chikwangue in the United States. RLN’s Chikwangue is made from cassava and water and wrapped in banana leaves. Today, Chikwangue is widely consumed in Central Africa as well as the African diaspora.
